Interesting Editorial Illustration video at NY Times

Op-Art-Ed at 40: Four Decades of Art at the NY Times.

Check out the link above. It is a 10 minute digital clip where artists and designers at the NY Times talk about how art has been a very important part of the Opposite Editorial section of the NY Times. Many of the artists are very interesting, and quite talented. I value how they came at illustrating editorials from an artistic perspective, which is very unusual in the world of political/editorial illustration/cartoons.

Enjoy.

The Frisbee of Art: How to draw ellipses

The New York Times just began a new series on drawing called Line by Line, aimed at helping the public understand basic concepts in creating and appreciating 2D art. Very simplistic, and not as useful as going to school for art, but I am glad to see something like this brought to the public. Check it out: The Frisbee of Art by James McMullan.

Congrats to students Tonya Hardy and Michael Holland!

A Message from Michelle Erickson-Goettl

I'm very excited to announce that two KC students have been hired to begin teaching Ceramics at Art Attack in Sycamore. Susan Edwards, founder and director of the Art Attack, contacted me last month for recommendations of KC students interested in the opportunity to teach. I recommended Tonya Hardy, who has been teaching Ceramics through the KC Continuing Ed. program, and Michael Holland who is currently in his third Ceramics course and about to complete his degree at Kishwaukee College. Both Students were hired to begin teaching classes this Fall. Please congratulate them if you see them around campus!

The success of our students fills us with pride!
