Mudslingers Pottery Sale- Valentine's Day

The Mudslingers will be having a Valentines Days Pottery Sale

Feb 13th and 14th from 10-3:30 in the main lobby.

The Mudslingers are going to be selling pottery and other student made ceramics. A portion of the proceeds will be going to Tails Humane Society. As always the students will also receive a portion of the proceeds. This is a great opportunity to support student artists and the Mudslingers Club.

We will also have cocoa and baked goods for sale.

Hope to see you all there.

The kinetic artist/engineer: Theo Jansen

What is art? Something visual that usually involves creativity, vision, craftsmanship, and involves problem-solving. Da Vinci and all the great artists are not men and women who know how to push a brush or shape clay. They are intellectuals, poets, philosophers, and dreamers. And they bring their mind to their craft and materials. Check out Theo Jansen. Kinetic Art that involves engineering, space, hardwork and all those other qualities. I may post a short story I wrote about an artist sometime soon, but more importantly, I am curious what interests you. Cheesy music in the video, but what are your thoughts on Jansen's work, etc.?

Cartoonist/Illustration blogs

I guess I thought I'd make my first post if that's cool with everybody. I thought I'd share some blogs. These are all blogs for professional cartoonists, animators, or sequential artists. It's interesting to see their stuff, especially the rough cuts and concepts. It's an interesting side to the art world in my opinion. Also, if anyone wants to check out my comic blog, here it is

Checkmark Art

It won't make sense because it's in the middle of an issue, but I thought I'd put it up here anyway. Thanks a lot.

Artist to build four giant waterfalls in New York

Artist to build four giant waterfalls in New York

Four giant waterfalls will be erected in New York for three months this summer in a public art project city officials hope will create $55 million in extra tourism revenue for the Big Apple.

The waterfalls, including one that will fall from the famed Brooklyn Bridge, are the brainchild of Danish artist Olafur Eliasson. Installation will cost $15 million, funded by private donations to New York's Public Art Fund.

"It's about seeing water in a different way," Eliasson told a news conference on Wednesday, unveiling plans for the waterfalls, which will range in height from 90 to 120 feet -- around the same as the Statue of Liberty from head to toe.
Three of the waterfalls will cascade into the East River and New York Harbor from free-standing scaffolding towers that Eliasson said were part of his artistic vision, mirroring the scaffolding towers that sprout up throughout New York. The falls will be in place from mid-July to mid-October.
