The kinetic artist/engineer: Theo Jansen

What is art? Something visual that usually involves creativity, vision, craftsmanship, and involves problem-solving. Da Vinci and all the great artists are not men and women who know how to push a brush or shape clay. They are intellectuals, poets, philosophers, and dreamers. And they bring their mind to their craft and materials. Check out Theo Jansen. Kinetic Art that involves engineering, space, hardwork and all those other qualities. I may post a short story I wrote about an artist sometime soon, but more importantly, I am curious what interests you. Cheesy music in the video, but what are your thoughts on Jansen's work, etc.?

Woah. That guy is brilliant. I'm still trying to figure out how the legs moves the way they did. It seemed to intricate.

Twas pretty cool the way the gears and levers moved to cause the whole thing to lurch forward. It was almost smooth and fluid in it's movement.

Wind power. Not sure how the art world views this guy as I only have ever heard of him through YouTube, but it sure is a cool sight to see.

Art that walks? And using wind? Big Oil will not be pleased! Makes me think of a kite for the ground instead of air, or a sailboat with legs for walking instead of floating. Would make for interesting travel in a windy desert or open field.
